We are committed to protecting natural waterways.
There are two water resources in our concession: river and peat
River :
All mill by-product – palm oil mill effluent (POME) – is treated before being discharged into waterways. We strive to ensure Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels are maintained below regulatory thresholds.
As part of our recovery efforts, we are committed to revegetating riparian buffer zones at our operations. These help to prevent soil erosion and minimise surface runoff from land used for agricultural development.
Peat :
Essential for well managed peat plantation to maintain water level of 40 centimeters below ground level equipped with tools that are monitored daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly.
