Sustainability Policy Commitment

KPN Plantation acknowledges the ambition of the Indonesian Government and the market for palm oil growers to embrace, implement and demonstrate their contributions in sustainable oil palm industry. As a newly emerging plantation group, KPN Plantation, together with its subsidiaries -commits to adhere to the Sustainability Policy that is based on "No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation" (NDPE) principles and to take part in the palm oil industry development while protecting forests and peatlands, respecting the rights of workers and communities where we operate.

This policy supersedes any existing sustainability policy applied by corporate entities within the group and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are aligned with this Sustainability Policy. KPN Plantation will continuously analyze and review progress with the objective to further improve its policy and implementation practices.

This policy is part of our SIGAP core values, G – Growth for Co-Prosperity. Growth is an essential part of any striving company and we believe that our sustainability policy will support the company's growth. Therefore, our sustainability policy will guide well-thought-out growth plans for the company's future. Details are to be updated as our sustainability journey continues.

As a short term measure required to allow us to develop this policy, a Stop Work Order (SWO) was issued to all management units, suspending with immediate effect all greenfield development from July 1st, 2018 onward. Replanting on peat will for the time being be restricted to sites at demonstrable risk of pest and disease. The SWO remains in effect until management is assured that robust systems will secure "No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation" commitment.

The implementation of our policy is led by the sustainability team, under the Head of Compliance and Sustainability. The Head reports directly to Director of General Affairs.

We believe collaborating with other stakeholders is key to meeting NDPE commitments across the industry. KPN is part of several industry and landscape initiatives such as the Meranti Harapan Collaboration Platform Program whose mission is to protect the Sumatran Lowland Rainforest in the Meranti Forest area. We are also members of the Indonesian Palm Oil Association IPOA (Gabungan Asosiasi Pengusaha Kelapa Sawit Indonesia – GAPKI)
